FDA warns on erectile dysfunction drugs.

Investors Chronicle, July, 2005

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned doctors that a handful of erectile dysfunction drugs, including GlaxoSmithKline's (GSK) Levitra, could cause vision loss. The regulator says incidents have been reported among patients taking Levitra, Pfizer's Viagra and Eli Lilly's Cialis. The FDA is uncertain whether the drugs are directly to blame, or if the problems were caused by high blood pressure or diabetes.

Although Levitra sales could dip, analysts say it won't have a major impact on GSK as it is a minor product that has failed to win market share from Viagra. At 1,374p, fairly priced.
