SSL International remains on target to achieve an operating profit of GBP52m by March 2007, with sales of Durex condoms again providing the lion's share of turnover, rising 9.2 per cent to GBP162.3m. But, crucially, the Scholl footwear business finally started to show an improvement in the second half. And while underlying sales dipped 3 per cent in the first half of the year, the second half saw a 2 per cent improvement.

The Durex line has been repositioned to promote not only safe sex but also better sex, and the range now includes lubricants and other devices, as well as condoms. The footcare side as a whole has also grown, with sales up over 11 per cent at GBP95.8m.
