122p - Aim - The launch this week of BSkyB's free broadband internet service will have sent shivers down the spines of other internet service providers (ISPs). Fresh from adjusting to Carphone Warehouse's free broadband offer, the ISPs will now have to compete with another major consumer brand.

In the short term, BSkyB's rivals are likely to react by cutting prices but, in the long term, they will need to differentiate their services. And one way of doing this will be service quality, which will play into the hands of Sandvine, a Canadian hardware and software developer.
