TT Electronics designs and makes a range of electronics and electrical goods, with particular focus on the automotive industry. And fortunately, it only has limited exposure to Ford and General Motors' high-profile woes, as much of its business is in the buoyant German car market.

So executive chairman John Newman is particularly excited about his new Autopad inductive sensors, which have already won contracts worth over GBP100m. Analysts don't expect the benefits to hit the bottom line until 2008, but they should offset declining sales of old-style 'haul effect' pedal and steering sensors.
