NSB Retail's chief executive, Nikki Beckett, is stepping down to spend more time with her family - or, rather, less time commuting between London and the software company's headquarters in Quebec. The new chief will be based in North America and, because it generates almost all its revenues there, NSB will now report in US dollars.

North American revenues barely moved during the period, with hardware sales down 46 per cent. But overall profit margins were buoyed by software sales. New licence revenue growth was a factor - increasing by 36 per cent - in NSB's smaller UK wing, which is run by BT. Its merchandising software package has now been re-engineered for the British market. However, initial hopes of further international expansion now seem unlikely until...
