The turnover hike reflects the Pitts Wilson Electrical acquisition, but, strip that out, and turnover fell 5 per cent during the year. In fact, PM, which makes on-board weighing systems for vehicles that carry commercial and domestic waste, has faced its share of uncertainties of late.
In its commercial waste business, two of PM's major customers - waste clearers Biffa and Cleanaway - have recently floated. And, during this process, they reduced the installation of PM's equipment in their trucks. However, with the distractions of the flotations now out of the way, this division may yet bounce back. What's more, in domestic waste, there is uncertainty over whether the government will recommend a system that rewards households for the weight of household waste...
