163p - Aim: fixed-line telecommunications - Rapprochement between investors and telecoms companies is there for all to see. Shares in Vodafone and BT have rocketed since last summer. Even Cable & Wireless has been brought in from the cold. And that effect is now filtering down to smaller communications providers. Of these, Alternative Networks is the pick - or, at least, its customers seem to think so. The company resells, installs and supports fixed-line telecoms services from the likes of BT, Colt and Cable & Wireless, as well as mobile services from Vodafone and O2, focusing on small businesses with 50 to 500 employees. And in 2005-06 only 16 per cent of its customers switched to another supplier - well below the industry average of more than 20 per cent.
