Armour's strong sales growth was helped by a full six-month contribution from its Alphason subsidiary, which manufactures audio, video and plasma television supports. But even without this, organic revenue growth was still an impressive 15 per cent on a pro-forma basis.

This growth was aided by a recovery in orders and sales from car makers, particularly for the Veba range of in-car audio-visual entertainment systems. Indeed, the latest order from BMW is set to go into delivery this month. By contrast, in the retail channel, which includes sales through Halfords, sales performance was flat. But Armour is developing three new product ranges, which chief executive George Dexter says will include hands-free kits for in-car mobile phones.
