In May, hundreds of industrial engineers, experts, and students from around the globe flocked to SeaWorld in Orlando, Fla. But they weren't there to watch Shamu jump through hoops for fish.

More than 1,300 people attended the IIE Annual Conference and Exposition, a meeting of the minds where learning, problem solving, and networking drove a number of initiatives. The four-day event covered a wide scope of industrial engineering topics including lean, quality and Six Sigma methods, manufacturing, and engineering management.
