Distributed Efficiency Grants in New York.

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) was awarded $702,000 from the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE's) highly competitive solicitation for State Energy Program Special Projects. NYSERDA was awarded funding through the following seven proposals:

$100,000 to target New York State industries for energy efficiency. This grant will be used to encourage energy efficiency improvements for large commercial customers, such as manufacturers.

$133,000 for distributed generation in federal facilities. A popular means of reducing energy use, distributed generation uses measures such as microturbines, fuel cells, or other power systems to create electricity, thereby lowering energy costs.
