J.D. Power Forecasts 780,000 Hybrid Vehicle Sales by 2012.

J.D. Power and Associates recently announced the release of the most recent update of its Automotive Forecasting Services Hybrid-Electric Vehicle Outlook, which forecasts U.S. hybrid vehicle sales will increase by 268 percent between 2005 and 2012.

According to J.D. Power, hybrid vehicle sales are expected to total 780,000 in 2012, compared with about 212,000 in 2005. However, J.D. Power anticipates hybrids will only account for about 4.2 percent of total U.S. light-vehicle sales in 2012, up from 1.3 percent in 2005.
