DHS now enforcing new I-9 form requirements

On Dec. 26, 2007, the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security began enforcing the new 1-9 form requirements for acceptable forms of identification to prove identity and work eligibility. On the new form, employers are told they may NOT accept the following:

* a certificate of U.S. citizenship (Form N-560 or N-570);

* a certificate of naturalization (Form N-550 or N-570);

* alien registration receipt card (Form 1-151);

* an unexpired reentry permit (Form 1-327); or

* an unexpired refugee travel document (Form 1-571).
