In memoriam: H.A. Wilfred Lynch, 1918-2008

The Society mourns the passing of Wilfred (Tito) Lynch, one of the founding members of SPE's Quebec Section. A chemical engineer and an inventor, Mr. Lynch was a pioneer in the development of silicone for medical applications. In 1969 he opened Medical Engineering Corp.; the company developed many innovative products for use in plastic surgery and urology before being sold to Bristol-Myers Squibb in 1982.

Mr. Lynch held numerous patents and authored many technical papers. He also contributed his time to the YMCA, the Rotary Club, and Lions Clubs International. Donations can be made in memory of Wilfred Lynch to the University of Wisconsin Foundation, 1846 University Avenue, Madison, WI 53726 USA, where the family has established a fund to benefit research in biomedical engineering.
