The Mold Making & Mold Design Division of SPE made several announcements during ANTEC 2001 in Dallas.

The Mold Maker of the Year Award went to Norbert Stengle, president, Northwestern Tool & Manufacturing, Inc., Vernon Hills, Illinois. Mold Designer of the Year was awarded to Eduardo Hidalgo, engineering manager, Global Precision, Inc., Davie, Florida.

John P. Beaumont of Beaumont Runner Technologies & Penn State University won Best Division Paper--"Controlling Balanced Molding Through New Hot Runner Manifold Designs."

Nathan Mitchell and Kate Miller of Penn State University presented the Best Student Paper. Both received a $250 honorarium for their presentation of "Developing Techniques for Fabricating Aluminum Molds With Cast-In Passages."
