Rubber Division seeks nominations

The Rubber Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS) is accepting nominations for the following six Science and Technology Awards for 2008:
* The Charles Goodyear Medal (sponsored by the Rubber Division, ACS);
* The Sparks-Thomas Award (sponsored by ExxonMobil Chemical);
* The Melvin Mooney Distinguished Technology Award (sponsored by Lion Copolymer);
* The George Stafford Whitby Award for Distinguished Teaching and Research (sponsored by Cabot);
* The Femley H. Banbury Award (sponsored by Farrel); and
* The Chemistry of Thermoplastic Elastomers Award (sponsored by the Ralph S. Graft Foundation).
These prestigious awards recognize specific distinguished achievements of rubber scientists, engineers, chemists and technologists worldwide. Honors associated with the various awards include monetary honorariums, engraved plaques and recognition at a special awards banquet held in honor of the recipients.
Winners will receive their awards during the Rubber Division's Spring 175th Technical Meeting, to be held May 4-6, 2009, in Akron, OH. This meeting will also celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Rubber Division, ACS.

The Rubber Division must receive nominations by August 1. This is an opportunity to recognize a colleague in the field who has used creativity and dedication to move technology, industry and academia forward.
The Rubber Division's Science and Technology Awards Committee determines selection of finalists, with final approval by the Executive Committee at the 2008 Fall Technical Meeting in Louisville, KY.
The Rubber Division, ACS, is a professional, non-profit association dedicated to enhancing science, technology and business across the evolving elastomeric community. The Rubber Division's mission is to expand the elastomeric profession and individual development through educational, technical and interactive activities.
