A Tetra Alfast 222 standardisation system and a new Tetra Clip 8 pasteuriser have been installed at South Caernarfon Creameries Ltd at Pwllheli and connected to an existing MRPX 214 separator to produce cheese milk to a consistent fat/SNF ratio.

The Tetra Alfast standardization system increases cheesemaking profitability by making it possible to supply milk to an exact specification. The system works by measuring densities and flowrates and thereafter regulating flow.

Accurate control of the fat/SNF ratio allows the production of cheese of consistent and enhanced quality. And, due to the separator by-pass arrangement, a smaller separator with lower energy consumption can be used, thus reducing operational costs. At South Caernarfon, the Tetra Alfast...
