Physicists in the USA and Japan have been the first to observe a form of superconductivity that has only been demonstrated theoretically.
Professor Ying Liu and co-workers at Pennsylvania State University (Penn State), together with scientists at Kyoto University, have produced practical evidence of so-called "odd-parity" superconductivity in strontium ruthenate, which was first predicted by theorists some 40 years ago.
