Effect of temperature on circuit board materials assessed.(ELECTRONICS)

Researchers at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and DuPont Electronic Technologies, both USA, have demonstrated a non-destructive method for measuring how temperature affects the electrical properties of three common circuit board materials: ceramic, glass and polymer.

The method provides circuit board manufacturers with an accurate technique for measuring high frequency electrical properties of substrates without the need to damage the material--enabling faster, less expensive and easier testing, as well as providing for a tool for designing circuits and substrates with improved performance, the researchers claim.
