AEROSPACE - Aerospace merger may shake European composites industry

The recent merger of aerospace giants Lockheed and Martin Marietta may prompt a shake-up of the European industry, a move that could have a significant impact on the composites sector. The merger, the biggest news in the aerospace sector for some time, makes the new Lockheed Martin Corp the second largest aerospace company in the world behind Boeing Co. The combined annual sales of the two companies total $23 billion, while the new firm will become the largest US defence contractor employing more than 174 000 people.
