INDUSTRY NEWS - Union Carbide in DVB pact with Dow

Union Carbide has granted Dow Chemical Co an exclusive worldwide licence to sell divinylbenzene (DVB) for use in Union Carbide's process for the production of fibre reinforced moulded composites. DVB can be used as a reactive monomer with unsaturated polyesters where it allows fast curing and imparts high interlaminar strength, good high temperature mechanical properties and a high gloss in the final parts. The agreement gives Dow the right to grant further licences in connection with the DVB monomer and gives Union Carbide the right to grant licences in connection with the sale of additive mixtures containing DVB.
