Hydrogen fuel tanks.(Automotive)
Advanced Composites Bulletin, April, 2005
Lincoln Composites Inc, USA, has been selected by the US Gas Technology Institute (GTI) to provide high pressure storage tanks for two hydrogen fuelling stations.
The carbon fibre reinforced plastic fuel tanks--trade name Tuffshell L Type IV--can withstand 48.3 MPa (483 bar) of pressure. They will be manufactured at Lincoln's plant in Lincoln, Nebraska.
The tanks will be used for two stations that are being produced by the Gas Technology Institute in collaboration with the US Department of Energy.
The stations to be built are:
* a stationary 50 kg a day, high pressure station using reformed natural gas;
* a trailer-mounted portable fuel station for near-term hydrogen vehicle demonstration activities.
