The proven oil reserves of Uzbekistan have been estimated at 0.6 billion barrels at end-1997 by BP. But the Tashkent government says the proven reserves are more than twice as much. The country's proven and probable gas reserves have been estimated officially at about 1.85 TCM, giving almost 35 years of production at targeted rates.
