Avi Zinger and Stacey Shani have franchised Ben Cohen's ice cream store, Ben and Jerry, in a seaside resort in Netanya, Israel, to answer the growing demand for ice cream in the country. It is the latest franchise store that provides competition to local ice cream parlors such as the Blue Moon, which already has 12 outlets in Tel Aviv. Aside from focusing on expansion, improving technology, store design and operations, these stores are also competing in introducing new and better ice cream flavors to the market.
Ben Cohen isn't chairman and CEO of Ben & Jerry's any more, but that didn't keep him from coming to Israel in March to open the latest Ben & Jerry's franchised store.
