Organic frozen food is booming in the United States. Producers are bringing new items onto the market, an increasing number of outlets are listing them, and sales are growing rapidly. In each of three segments of the organic frozen food market retail sales increased more than 20% between 2004 and 2005.

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) sets the standards for foods that are certified organic. They exclude foods that have been grown using synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, as well as foods containing bio-engineered ingredients. Products cannot be labeled "certified organic" unless an organization that the USDA has accredited proves that they meet USDA standards.
