Doing business with a New York City bank, we've come to know from personal experience, bears little resemblance to banking in towns, small cities, and even some other large cities, That's not surprising considering that very little of what happens in New York resembles what happens anywhere else.

Nevertheless, going to the bank here just moved a little further from the traditional concept.

Citibank has gotten a lot of mileage out of its large, proprietary network of automated teller machines. At virtually all its hundreds of branches it has had three or more of the machines for many years. In a city where "I need" always implies now," ATMs represent instant cash gratification.
