Bank software alliance formed. A new bank software alliance was announced in October, the second this year involving Microsoft Corp., which is aggressively seeking product development and marketing agreements with banking industry software vendors. The latest such agreement involves Microsoft, Andersen Consulting, BancA, and Micro/Resources, Inc. The four companies are cooperating on the development of a platform called Solutions for Commercial Banking, which will include applications from MRI's CRISP system, BancA's POWER 1, and Microsoft's Excel, Word, and SQL Servers products. Andersen contributed system design and integration expertise.
