ABA Banking Journal, April, 2005

Newsweek Managing Editor Jon Meacham, author of Franklin and Winston: An Intimate Portrait of An Epic Friendship, spoke of his book's subjects--President Roosevelt and Prime Minister Churchill--but also of the continuing "special relationship" between the U.S. and Great Britain. He noted how President George W. Bush and Prime Minister Tony Blair were walking in the shoes of the older leaders, not a politically easy thing to do.

"Bush and Blair are playing off a very old script here," said the journalist in his keynote address. "We all need to be patient. These men are trying to do some very difficult things together."
