A wiki is a group-editable website, according to Socialtext, Inc., a privately owned five-year-old firm that bills itself as the first wiki company and leading provider of Enterprise 2.0 solutions. Sociaitext earned those bragging rights by placing its wiki collaboration tools in more than 2,000 global organizations.

"Enterprise 2.0 social software such as wikis and weblogs enables organizations to radically improve collaboration among employees, customers, and partners," says Ross Mayfield, Socialtext founder and CEO. "The CIO of a major financial institution that uses wikis for managing internal projects recently credited Socialtext with decreasing e-mail volume by 75% and cutting meeting times in half, while maintaining full regulatory compliance."
