PUERTO RICO: $9 million apparel contract

Propper International Inc., an apparel manufacturer with four plants (1,150 employees) on the island, has been awarded a $9 million Defense Department contract to produce more than 400,000 pairs of military trousers, it was announced March 1. A week earlier, Equa Industries Inc. of Mayaguez said it had won a $3.5 million bid to manufacture Air Force shirts.
