PANAMA: NEW WIRELESS NETWORK.

Cable & Wireless Panama has inaugurated a wireless network, based on the latest Ericsson D-AMPS (IS-136) technology, which is a part of a projected five-year major investment in Cable & Wireless's operation in Panama, it was reported February 3. The first phase of the new wireless network covers the main cities of Panama, as well as some tourist resorts.

Ericsson has also supplied AXE switching equipment to expand Cable & Wireless' fixed network in Panama. To support the expanding business in Panama, Ericsson has established a new company, Ericsson de Panama S.A.
