US$2 MILLION FOR SAMMY SOSA CHILDREN'S CENTER.(Brief Article)

Major league baseball star Sammy Sosa will fund the construction of a US$2 million children's complex, reports Listin Diario (May 31, 2000). The "Ciudad de la Ninez" will be built in three phases in an area of 50,000 meters located near the V Centenario Race Track and the new sports complex to be built for the 2003 Pan American Games on Las Americas International Highway.

The complex will have sports installations, computer schools, library and several baseball stadiums. A spokesman for the Sammy Sosa Foundation in the DR, Domingo Dahuajre, said the project was a contribution of Sammy Sosa to the physical and intellectual development of Dominican children.
