The Government has signed a contract with Landfill Technologies, the Puerto Rico firm that will bail and wrap St. Croix's garbage so that Anguilla Landfill can be closed, reports The Virgin Islands Daily News (Oct. 30, 2002). But that contract, signed Oct. 17, was only to conduct studies required by the Federal Aviation Administration on birds and pests at the landfill - where the facility will be located - and how best to keep them out, said Public Works Commissioner Wayne Callwood.
