0 Comments | Caribbean Update, April, 2008
The Turks & Caicos Sporting Club at Ambergris Cay and the Turks & Caicos Islands Airports Authority celebrated a collaborative agreement at SkyBase in Providenciales, laying the foundation for Air Traffic Services at Ambergris Cay Airport, it was reported Feb. 20. This is a step toward obtaining full United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority Certification for the airport, which allows direct international private flights.
The airstrip is 5,700 feet long; the longest lighted, paved private airstrip in the Caribbean--and serves as the ultimate welcome mat for Sporting Club members. The airport will have a firefighting team; an EMS station is under construction and will be completed in March." said Peter Pollak, Managing Partner, DPS Sporting Club Development.
