0 Comments | Caribbean Update, June, 2008
Alexander & Baldwin Inc., parent of ocean-transport company Matson Navigation, and Crowley Maritime Corp. said they are part of a US Justice Dept probe into shipping practices to Puerto Rico, reports Bloomberg (April 19, 2008). The disclosures mean that at least three maritime operators are being questioned regarding Puerto Rico trade.
Horizon Lines Inc. said federal agents served it with a search warrant. The Justice Dept will issue a subpoena to Matson as part of a probe of carriers' pricing practices, said Honolulu-based Alexander & Baldwin. Jacksonville, Florida-based Crowley said US investigators obtained company records.
