Glendale, Calif.-based Nestle USA has introduced Carnation Baby Cereals with Formula. The line, which includes Baby-Gentle Fiber, a special type of soluble fiber known as fructooligasaccharides, or FOS (found naturally in small quantities in fruits, vegetables and other plant sources), was created to ease babies' transition to solid foods.
"Everyone can benefit from having the right amount and type of fiber in their diet, including babies," says Dr. Jose Saavedra, medical and scientific director for the Nestle Nutrition Division and associate professor of pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition at Johns Hopkins University.
