Minneapolis-based General Mills' Progresso has rolled out ready-to-serve Rich & Hearty Soups. Ready-to-serve soup now surpasses condensed soup in grocery dollar sales, representing 54 percent of the $2.6 billion canned soup market, according to ACNielsen. Progresso's "superior adult taste" strategy has driven 50 percent growth for the business over the past five years.

"The Progresso Rich & Hearty line satisfies consumers' desire for soup as a meal," says David Clark, marketing manager.

"Meal" varieties include: Beef Pot Roast with Country Vegetables; Steak and Roasted Russet Potatoes; Sirloin Steak and Vegetables, Slow-Cooked Vegetable Beef; Chicken and Homestyle Noodles; Creamy Chicken Wild Rice; Chicken Pot Pie and Savory Beef Barley Vegetable....
