Researchers at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences found that by eating lots of carbs and little fat, it's possible to lose weight without cutting calories--and without exercising, either, reports Associated Press.
Couch potatoes better not get too comfortable, however. The study was small, consisting of only 34 overweight adults, all of whom either ate the recommended diet for three months; ate the recommended diet and exercised regularly; or ate pretty much what they usually eat.
All meals were prepared for participants, who were instructed to eat as much as they wanted. Uneaten food was returned, allowing researchers to calculate calorie intake.
