Drinking water contaminated with toxic organic substances can be purified using chemical oxidation treatment technology. A Superfund Innovative Evaluation demonstration at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California used a perox-pure system of Peroxidation Systems Inc, Tucson AZ to free 40,000 gal of groundwater contaminated with tetrachoroethene and trichloethene. The water, after undergoing treatment was reported to be drinkable by Federal and California standards.

A SUPERFUND Innovative Technology Evaluation (SITE) demonstration confirmed that chemical oxidation treatment technology will clean water contaminated by toxic organics.
