Skid-steer loaders and mini-excavators are construction equipment that are usually found in use in construction and maintenance project sites. Their use as separate machines or as a tandem was proven to be advantageous because they are capable of handling numerous tasks that include road repair, landscaping, street sweeping, snowblowing and earthmoving. In addition, they are priced lower than tractor-mounted loader-backhoes.

Skid-steer loaders - introduced more than 30 years ago to move manure and bales of hay on farms - are routinely used today on a multitude of construction and maintenance projects. Mini-excavators - as commonplace in other parts of the world as skid-steers are in America - are becoming increasingly visible on job sites in this country.
