BEUC: AN APPEAL TO FUTURE EURO-MPS

Summary:

"Consumer issues must be at the top of the agenda in the run-up to the European Parliament elections in June." This was the clear message put across by BEUC, the European Consumers' Organisation, at the launch of its "Consumer Manifesto" on February 3 in Brussels. The Manifesto seeks to bridge the gap between Europe's consumers and its institutions. In the first section are listed the principal issues on the consumer agenda for the next five years. In the second section, BEUC sets out the reasons for believing that the ability of the European Parliament to influence consumer policy has been significantly enhanced through the provisions of the Maastricht Treaty.
