SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY.

> European Union Environment Ministers held their first policy debate at their meeting in Brussels on 9 March on the European Commission's Communication on the review of the EU's Sustainable Development Strategy. Whilst the Council broadly welcomed the communication, it nevertheless emphasised that a certain issues, such as consumption and production patterns, education, research and biodiversity, deserve greater emphasis, and that unsustainable economic, social and environmental trends must be addressed in a balanced manner.a
