SOLVAY TAKEOVER OF SOLVICORE CLEARED.

The European Commission authorised on 21 June the acquisition of joint control by the Belgian companies Solvay SA and Umicore SA of Solvicore, the German producers of membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs) for fuel cell applications. Solvay is an international chemicals, plastics and pharmaceuticals group employing more than 30,000 people in 50 countries.
Umicore specialises in materials technology.
