ENERGY : SOLAR ENERGY INDUSTRY WANTS MORE COMMITMENT.

The European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA) wants more real commitment from the European Commission. EPIA, at the first in its cycle of lunch debates devoted to solar energy, repeated the need for mandatory sector specific renewables targets at national level for electricity, cooling and heating, and transport. The Commission should then ensure these targets are met. EPIA appears increasingly worried that a new Framework Directive on renewable energy will not go beyond existing legislation and may represent a step backwards.
