ENERGY : EURELECTRIC CAUTIOUS ON CARBON CAPTURE AND STORAGE.

Electricity federation Eurelectric is calling for caution as the European Commission prepares, later this year, to present a package of legislative and administrative proposals to boost carbon capture and storage (CCS). According to the association, any moves at present to mandate CCS by legislation in European fossil fuel-based power plants would be "premature". Eurelectric's policy paper casts further doubts on mandatory introduction of CCS by 2020, as set forth by the Commission in its Energy Package published in January.
