SOLIDARITY FUND IN THE UK.

The European Commission will soon propose to the Council of Ministers and the European Parliament that the EU Solidarity Fund is mobilised in favour of the United Kingdom, due to the severe flooding which affected the country in the summer of 2007. Following a meeting with UK Local Government Minister John Healy, on 31 October in Brussels, Regional Policy Commissioner Danuta Hubner indicated that the policy briefing note was practically closed and that the Commission's decision would be made in November.
