With a week to go to the European Council which should adopt the amending Treaty of Lisbon and shoulda- barring any surprises in 2008a- bring to a close the EU's institutional debate, the EPP-ED, the largest group of the European Parliament, has released its first contributions to the debate on the post-Lisbon period.

In two documents published on 4 December, the EPP-ED defines its guidelines for "political strategy" and communication: a "decalogue" or list of ten priorities for the European elections in 2009 and a "centre-right contribution" for the next two decades titled The world in 2025: How the European Union will need to respond'.
