ENVIRONMENTAL INFORMATION SYSTEM DELAYED.

There will be a delay in putting in place a new common environmental information system, the cornerstone of the work programme of the European Environment Agency (EEA) for 2008. The communication that the European Commission was scheduled to adopt on this matter on 12 December has been postponed till early 2008.
This system, which aims to improve not only access to environmental information but also the quality of information, will modify the distribution of the storage system as well as data access and exchange arrangements. (AEC)
