REVISION OF ECO-PRODUCTS DIRECTIVE CONTESTED.

The metallurgical, electronic, electric and mechanical industries, represented by Orgalime, are contesting the European Commission's inclination to revise the Framework Directive on eco-design of energy using products. "There are means to attain the objectives of the energy-climate package by 2020 other than revising a directive whose implementation has just started," believes Adrian Harris, the organisation's secretary-general.
These objectives can be attained with existing technologies, he adds, on condition that facilitating their market access is favoured.
