Addressing the pollution of the Mediterranean Sea is likely to become one of the key objectives to be announced during the launch summit of the Union for the Mediterranean (UM), to be held in Paris on 13 July. On 10 April, the European Commission and the European Investment Bank (EIB) presented a series of 44 concrete projects to fight the sea's pollution by 2020 that could be endorsed by the UM.
