PRODUCT SAFETY : EU AND US WANT TO SPEAK IN UNISON.

The EU's Consumer Protection Commissioner, Meglena Kuneva, and her American counterpart, Nancy Nord, want to have a shared approach to product safety, throughout the production line, particularly regarding Chinese imports. This is what they affirmed, on 3 April, following their meeting in Brussels.

"There are many common points between the American and European systems. We have to learn from each other," commented Nord. She said that she was very happy that Kuneva accepted to undertake, with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, "a dialogue with the exporter community and the countries that manufacture products". The objective is to integrate product safety into all aspects of the production process.
